About Us...

My parents, Vince and Annette Mollo, dreamed of opening a luncheonette after my father  finally returned home from World War II. Their dream became a reality as a result of a large pot won in a poker game aboard the liberty ship, George Davis, returning from Europe at the end of the war. On June 14th, 1946, they opened Vince's Submarine shop at 4107 Landis Avenue. Dad also opened Sea Isle Taxi Service. I remember Ed Tunney and Mike Marolla were among the first drivers dad hired. They remain good friends of the family.

In march of 1953, Mom and Dad opened Vince's Luncheonette at its present location. During the summer they operated on a 24 hour schedule to serve the people after the bars closed. Many of the young men and women in town started their working lives with us as cooks, waitresses or taxi drivers. Over the years, dad expanded the scope of our family business by operating the local Western Union service and bike rental business (which continues to operate next door).

The business was a family affair. My sisters, Kathy, Mary Beth, and I were waitresses. My future husband, Tom, worked with my father for many years. Our four children grew up working at Vince's. After 45 years my parents decided to retire and began leasing the restaurant. For several years, Joe & Nina Corso operated the restaurant as the Epicurean. Joe worked for my father before he decided to become a professional chef. When Joe & Nina decided to move to a larger location in Mays Landing the opportunity arose to return the operation back to the family.

Our son Jim grew up working with his grandfather (Vince) in the kitchen. He then attended the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic County College. Upon graduation he spent several years working for the Marriott chain in Seaview, NJ, Newport, RI and Point Clear, AL. Eventually, Jim returned to Southern New Jersey. His cooking is a reflection of the culinary traditions in the places he has worked.

We are very proud that our son has decided to reestablish the tradition started by my parents. I hope that you enjoy your dining experience- Bon Appetite
